Truth or Consequences

A few weeks ago we decided to check out Truth or Consequences, New Mexico just because it had a cool name. It turns out this is not necessarily the best way to choose a destination. We drove for 2 hours to get to a town of 7,000 that appears to have not seen much prosperity in the last 50 years. We wandered into a couple of shops, mostly to give Molly a break from the carseat and the inevitable 2 hour return trip. We were thinking of heading out to Roswell too, but that is a 4 hour trip each way, so we decided to nix that idea!

The most exciting that that happened on the trip was getting stopped by boarded security about 30 minutes into New Mexico. We were nowhere near the US/Mexico boarder, and not really that close to the Texas/NM boarder! All the cars had to pull over and be questioned by boarder security. The lineup moved pretty fast, and we just got asked if we were all family and had our car registration number taken down. I asked about it when I went back to work, and I was told boarder security hangs out on known human trafficking routes to try and stop illegal immigration.
