larches

In mid September, there are coniferous trees in the mountains whose needles turn yellow and then fall off.  As we were out in Canmore at the time, we thought we'd go check them out.  They look quite nice in pictures.

Sadly, this is as close as we got!

It turns out the trail we chose was going to be 1-2 hours up a steep mountain.  We probably could have convinced Molly to do it, but I was being a bit more problematic :)   After 20 minutes we headed back down again.

It was very pretty, even if we didn't get to see the larches.

But it wasn't a complete loss as the trail was at Moraine Lake.  A glimpse of what we saw at the trail head.

So pretty!

lf I could have been bothered to climb up this hill,

this is the picture I could have taken.

Molly wanted wanted to build an inukshuk.

In the end, she decided to make a dog.

Me at 37 weeks.

Molly's favorite part of the hike was the exposed culverts!

Heading back home.
