Leduc No. 1

I have been up to Edmonton a few times recently. When I came home the first time, I drove by Leduc #1, the first big oil find in Alberta. I was pleasantly surprised, as I had no idea where it was (FYI, it's close to Leduc). The second time I was coming back, I thought I'd pop by and take a few pictures. I'll pause for those of you who know my sense of direction so you can stop laughing. One highway looks pretty much the same to me as another, and I never did come across it!

This trip I was prepared though. I Googled it (who does the PR for this place?) and eventually came up with a vague address that I popped into the GPS. There is a small museum there as well, but I figured I just needed a picture of the derrick.

Woohoo, signage!

The well that ensured I was an Albertan instead of a Saskatchewanian.

I somehow feel just a little more like an Albertan after this experience!
