an idea whose time has come

Baseboards.

We have been (infrequently) working on baseboards since we first moved in.

The very first thing we did to the house was rip out the baseboards in Molly's room, paint it, and install new baseboards because the old ones were gross. (Not that you can see the baseboards in any of these pictures, but like windows, baseboards are pretty boring on their own!)

Then we did the hallway.

A year later the hallway took on epic proportions as I attempted to get the door trim to match the baseboards and redo all the baseboards to fit the new trim.

And I learned that I hated baseboards. Especially 13 foot baseboards.

But, the rest of the main floor needed baseboards and door trim to match. So they have slowly been replaced. Today, the last two baseboards went up!

I still have a bit of sanding and touch up painting to do, but no more buying, cutting, installing, caulking, or hole filling of baseboards!!!!!!!
