swine flu

On Sunday Molly woke up at 5am a bit warm. She went back to sleep until 8, and was napping by 9. When she got up again she was cranky, warmer, and tired. She spent most the morning napping, and was asleep again after lunch. By 2pm she was quite hot and lethargic, which is very un-Molly like.

Around 2 we decided to head over the H1N1 assessment clinic near our house. It was a fantastic time to go, as there was no one in the waiting room when we got there! Her temperature was 39.1, she had no energy, and I'm guessing she had muscle aches as she was pretty unimpressed about being moved at all (and she weighs 26.5 lb). They decided she had swine flu and gave us some Tamiflu and super strength Ibuprofen. They also sent us on to the Children's Hospital for a lung xray as they couldn't hear breath sounds at the bottom of her right lung and were worried she was getting pneumonia.

The only thing worse than having a sick baby in an ER may be having a health baby in the ER. By the time we got to the Children's, the Ibuprofen had kicked in and Molly wanted to play and touch everything. And she refused to wear a face mask. Keeping her contained was a bit of a struggle! Thankfully we were seen fairly quickly, and the doctor had no trouble hearing breath sounds in both lungs so we were sent home.

Today Molly had a longer nap than normal and had many cranky moments, but on the whole she is pretty much back to normal. At 7pm she decided she wanted to go to the park, so she got out her shoes and actually got them on her feet for the first time!

Hope Molly is continuing to feel better. Sometimes I think it is harder for the parents to cope as the little ones fight the treatment
Have you all had your flu shots?
Lookafter yourselves too.
